My Philosophy
I believe that every child is unique and special in their own way. Each child develops and matures at his/her own rate. It is important that each child be allowed to express themselves and recognize their own individual differences. I believe that children learn best through active exploration and interactions with their peers, adults, and the environment.
It is essential that children have a safe and fun environment to explore and learn from. My goal is to provide your child a stimulating environment that addresses their needs. Your child will be given many opportunities through appropriate materials and a loving environment to develop fully.
I care about your child, and will strive to provide a positive experience for them and their family. It is important to me that I make your child feel safe and confident about themselves, so they can build self-esteem and independence. I will direct and encourage your child in their learning and discovery process. I believe that “messy” play is important to a child’s overall development and happiness. We play outdoors and get “messy” as often as possible; this may include playing in the mud, sand, water, and outdoor painting among other things! |
I work to help your child learn good manners, especially table manners. We work on please, thank you, you’re welcome, being excused, and using utensils. Starting at 18 months your child will begin helping “clean up” the play room before pick up. I work to integrate learning opportunities into the children’s every day play (i.e. scavenger hunts, shape games, looking for letters, etc.). We make the most of our spontaneous learning opportunities. I feel that in early childhood this is the best way for them to learn, as it presents learning as a fun opportunity and not work. I hope to help foster in them a love for learning that will serve them throughout their academic endeavors. I encourage independence at an early age. Once a child has demonstrated mastery of a skill, the task becomes an expected behavior that the child will be required to perform independently. Older children who are able, will be given unrestricted access to art supplies (glue, safety scissors, stickers, paper, cotton balls, crayons, etc.) Please be aware however, that many art projects are not something that can be sent home. We paint outside, use sidewalk chalk, and do many “art” projects that are more than just paper and can’t be sent home. I hope that you choose me to care for your child while you are away. I take pride in my business and the kids, so while they are in my home they will get much love and affection. |
